Outfreakin' Standing!!!!

I don't know if you are aware of this or not, but OME uses Sgt. Grit as our single source supplier of choice for all Marine Corps items for our free Marine P-X in support of our recovering Marines at BAMC.  OME spends between $5,000 and $7,000/year with Sgt. Grit in support of the Marines recovering at BAMC and OME receives service and considerations that are unbelievable!  Sgt. Grit has great employees and Debbie, who handles the OME business transactions with Sgt. Grit, knows Don's fine staff individually by name.  Sgt. Grit is the best!!

You can use the above in a statement about OME and the service Sgt. Grit provides to OME to help promote his business as Sgt. Grit stands at the pinnacle in this business.

I love it when a plan comes together!
It happens so rarely

CHAFEE
John Chafee  was a  legend in our Association. A college wrestling star, he dropped out of Yale at 19 to join the Marines after Pearl Harbor, fighting on Guadalcanal as a private, then made officers candidate school and fought on Okinawa as a lieutenant. He went back to Yale (and the wrestling team), was tapped by Skull and Bones, the honor society, and took a law degree at Harvard. Then, as a married man  with a child on the way, he went back to commanding riflemen in combat. A man with money and connections (his great-grandfather and great-uncle both had served as governor), he never took the easy way out. Chafee went on to become governor of Rhode Island, Secretary of the Navy and a four-term Senator - a Republican elected in one of our most Democratic states. Its no wonder they named a ship after him.

IUSS CHAFEE

USS Chafee (DDG-90) is an Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer in United States Navy.

She is named for Senator John Lester Hubbard Chafee (1922-1999), a Marine veteran of Guadalcanal.

Chafee was laid down by the Bath Iron Works at Bath in Maine on 12 April 2001, launched on 2 November 2002 and commissioned on 18 October 2003. Chafee is an active unit of the Pacific Fleet and operates out of Pearl Harbor in Hawaii.

A couple of weeks ago, I received a call from Association Life Member and former 1st Marine Division CG Major General Mike Myatt. He passed a letter to me from the current Commanding Officer of USS Chafee asking for assistance. Commander Chase D Patrick, the CO of USS Chafee, desired to strengthen his ship's bond with its namesake. Because Mr. Chafee's  early life was defined by his experiences in the 1st Marine Division he asked for help in obtaining a "Blue Diamond Flag" to frame and mount to the bulkhead as a backdrop in the Crews Mess.

Mission Accomplished!
1. I called Association member and owner of SGT GRIT Don Whitton and he sent the below 1st Division Flag to me via overnight mail. Don has always been a loyal member and generous contributor to our Association, so if you're in the market for a flag, or any other Marine Corps Gear, make sure that you visit the SGT GRIT WEBSITE below.

2. Fortunately Major Jason (Jake) Bell was returning to his duties with the 1st Marine Division in Afghanistan and was good enough to carry the flag with him and arrange for it to be flown over the Division CP.

3. By now the "Blue Diamond Flag should be on its way to Commander Patrick!!

BRAVO ZULU to Commander Patrick for conceiving this outstanding tribute to an American Hero and SGT GRIT and Major Bell for making it happen!!
